A particularly popular cultural bias for the attachment of fathers and children is that infants and young children have a relatively unique attachment to their mothers and that maternal and child relations are considered to be essential for the initial socialization of infants. Contrary to this view, however, recent research reveals that there is a large and intense attachment between infants and fathers during the first year of life. These attachments clearly show the interest of infants and toddlers in their father’s behavior. For example, infants and toddlers who attach to their father spend a lot of time looking at his father; when his father leaves or enters the room, his behavior will be very active, and frequent moves will be made
