INTRODUCTION The continuous development of microwave and digital technologies has led to the development of digital transient frequency-measuring (IFM) receivers, sometimes referred to as digital frequency discriminators. Since IFM receivers have a high probability of interception of radar signals and, of course, they are an important part of any monitoring system because of their ability to measure frequency on a pulse-by-pulse basis. In this article, we will discuss the general system applications for IFM receivers, and then focus on tunable IFM receivers covering the 500-1800 MHz band covering the 0.5-18 GHz frequency band.
