目前在英国、荷兰、德国、美国、加拿大、日本和秘鲁等国中,均可从胃炎和消化性溃疡患者中分离出幽门弯曲杆菌,该菌具有强力的尿素酶和过氧化氢酶。由于尿素酶的作用,致产生含氨的保护层,可有效地避免胃酸对该菌的杀灭作用;而过氧化氢酶则能够使幽门弯曲杆菌具有对吞噬细胞氧化杀灭作用的抵抗力。胃的活检标本已证明幽门弯曲杆菌同慢性活动性胃炎密切相关。幽门弯曲杆菌特别易依附于胃窦部粘液分泌细胞处,当此菌侵袭胃粘液细胞时,其粘液量大大减少。粘液层变薄后,可导致溃疡发生。因94%的消化性溃疡与胃炎有关,故幽门弯曲杆菌引起的慢性活动性胃炎可能是胃溃疡的病因之一。荷兰的研究中,15例十二指肠溃疡患者全部发现有幽门弯曲杆菌,10例胃溃疡患者9例有此菌。另一研究中,70例十二指肠溃疡患者,仅7例未发现此菌,40例胃溃
Campylobacter pylori is currently isolated from patients with gastritis and peptic ulcer in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, Canada, Japan and Peru and has strong urease and catalase. Due to the action of urease, resulting in the protective layer containing ammonia, which can effectively prevent the killing effect of gastric acid on the bacteria; and catalase is able to Campylobacter pylori with phagocyte oxidative killing resistance. Biopsies of the stomach have proved that Campylobacter pylori is closely related to chronic active gastritis. Campylobacter pylori is particularly susceptible to adherence to mucus-secreting cells in the gastric antrum. When this bacterium invades gastric mucus cells, the amount of mucus is greatly reduced. Thinning mucus layer, can lead to ulcers. Because 94% of peptic ulcer and gastritis, so the chronic active gastritis caused by Campylobacter pylori may be one of the causes of gastric ulcer. In the Dutch study, Campylobacter pylori was found in all 15 patients with duodenal ulcer and in 9 of 10 gastric ulcer patients. In another study, of 70 patients with duodenal ulcer, only 7 had no such bacteria and 40 had ulceration
