have与带to的不定式连用,用来表达义务的概念,在夸克等编写的《A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language》一书中,把have to这种结构划归为半助动词(semi-auxilaries)。所谓半助动词。是指在功能上介乎主动词和助动词之间的一种结构。也就是说have to既有助词的语法功能,它与后面的不定式构成动词短语,如I have to go to the doctor,同时,它又保留着主动词的某些特征,它能与助动词或情态动词连用表示时态和情态的概念,如:
