The choice of treatment for macroprolactinoma remains a controversial issue. Neurosurgeons tend to claim that prolactin therapy must be administered continuously for long periods. However, after a few years of dopaminergic therapy, the huge prolactinoma no longer expands despite the dramatic reduction in drug dose.
