Coronary artery spasm (CAS) plays an important role not only in the formation of variant angina (VAP), but also in resting angina, some exertional angina and acute myocardial infarction. The mechanism of CAS has not been elucidated so far. In view of the fact that VAP is established due to large coronary artery spasm and spasms based on atherosclerosis, studying the pathophysiology of CAS has become a basic element in understanding the clinical practice of VAP.
