Tsinghua University Library was established in 1911. Thanks to sufficient funding and support by the university’s leadership, the library significantly enriched its collection of ancient classics in the 1920s and 30s. For instance, the library purchased all the 47,546 copies from the collection by Hangzhou-based Family Yang’s Fenghua Hall in 1929. When the new Library of Tsinghua University was completed in 1931, its collection reached up to 140,000 volumes, with thread-bound copies totaling 80,000.
