Zhang Zhanying, 34, is similar to his peers in this era. She was re-educated for ten years in the Northeast Production and Construction Corps and returned to Beijing to be unemployed. In April 1979, she and 13 unemployed youths set up the first tea stall selling big bowl of tea at Beijing’s Qianmen Street. This created a way for the unemployed youth to solve their job-hunting problems and accumulated experience in developing a collective economy. During the five years, tea stalls were developed as refreshment clubs. Refreshment Club opened two trading companies in front of Main Street East and Tiananmen Square, with 14 outlets and over 2,000 kinds of outlets
