Objective To investigate the effect of long-term low-dose exposure to radiation on the cardiovascular system of radiation workers and to provide basis for future radiological protection. Methods 609 radiation workers in Karamay were selected as observation group. 202 contact non-occupational disease risk factors were randomly selected as the control group in the same area. Blood pressure, blood routine, blood glucose, blood lipid (biochemical) physiological and biochemical tests were performed. Results The abnormal rate of examination results of radiological workers in Karamay City was 21.67% with electrocardiogram and 14.94% with blood pressure. There was no significant difference between the observation group and the control group (P> 0.05). The differences of ECG abnormalities among different dosage groups, (P <0.05). There was significant difference in the blood glucose and serum lipoprotein between different age groups in the observation group (P <0.01). With the increase of the age, the average value of the measurement increased gradually. Conclusion Long-term, low-dose exposure to radiation has little effect on the cardiovascular system. However, when the individual annual dose is greater than 5 mSv, it may have some influence on the cardiovascular system.
