October 10, 2003, Nanjing University School of Journalism and Communication was formally established, Professor Fang Yanming as the first president. Under the leadership of the president, there have been notable developments in various fields of the Journalism and Communication Institute. In this interview, President Fang introduced the experience of running the hospital and also discussed the issues, roles and characteristics of journalists, freedom of the press and new media, which are worthy of concern to academics and practitioners in the new situation.
