学英语是毛泽东读书生活的一个部分。我于一九五四年秋到毛泽东办公室担任他的国际问题秘书,前后有十二个春秋。在这段时间里,我除了秘书工作外,大部分时间帮助他学习英语。从那以后,二十年过去了,但毛泽东学习英语的生动情景,仍然历历在目。最近我查阅了毛泽东生前阅读过的英文书刊,访问了一些在他身边工作过的同志,并查阅了我当时的笔记,以便使我的回忆和叙述更真切一些。 Learning English is a part of Mao Zedong’s study life. I served as Secretary for International Affairs in his office in Mao Zedong in the fall of 1954 with twelve years of history. During this time, I helped him learn English most of the time other than secretary work. Twenty years have passed since then, but vivid scenes of Mao’s learning of English are still vivid. I recently read the books and magazines that Mao Zedong had read in his lifetime, visited some of the comrades who had worked with him, and reviewed my notes at that time in order to make my memories and narration more true.
