据外电近日报道,日本有关机构预计,日本在1995—96年度进口原棉160万包左右,将比上一年度约减少9％,这将比原先估计的减幅要大。日本进口原棉下降主要是因为其国内消费减少。1994—95年度日本棉花消费量为175万包,预计本年度棉花消费量下降至160万包。据报道,由于进口服装、棉纱等棉制品激增,预计日本国内棉纺织品产量也将下降。
According to foreign reports recently, Japan’s relevant agencies expect that Japan’s imports of raw cotton of around 1.6 million bales in 1995-96 will be reduced by approximately 9% from the previous year, which will be larger than the original estimate. The decline in Japan’s imports of raw cotton was mainly due to the reduction in domestic consumption. In 1994-95, Japan’s cotton consumption was 1.75 million bales, and this year’s cotton consumption is expected to drop to 1.6 million bales. According to reports, due to the surge in imported clothing, cotton yarn and other cotton products, it is expected that the production of cotton textiles in Japan will also decline.
