Gram-negative sepsis is a leading cause of death in hospitals. It has been shown that most Gram-negative bacterial sepsis occurs due to the presence of bacterial endotoxins in the blood. Endotoxin is the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria lipopolysaccharide, by the polysaccharide linked to a lipid (lipoprotein A) formed. Endotoxin activates complement and coagulation systems to produce bradykinin in vivo, induces production of interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) by macrophages and also stimulates the release of ACTH and endorphins. Anti-endotoxin core lipoprotein A antibody is endotoxin-specific antibodies, can effectively remove endotoxin produced by Gram-negative bacteria.
