This paper investigates the feasibility of various waveguide-type high-power Butler matrices and simulates component imperfections using a specially developed computer analysis program to analyze Butler matrices of up to 64 cells in excess of Common program capabilities. Computer analysis shows that good performance can be achieved in more than 10% of the frequency band using existing hybrid connectors and phase shifters, as demonstrated by the 8-cell Butler matrix samples consisting of “WR-112” waveguides . The maximum phase error between each pair of ports (input and output) is 6 ° and the root mean square error is less than 3 °.
