65岁以上老年人为治疗高血压和心力衰竭有25％以上应用利尿剂。老年高血压患者应用小剂量利尿剂治疗不仅能很好地耐受,而且能明显降低心力衰竭、脑卒中和心脏猝死的发病率。噻嗪类利尿剂对45岁以上高血压患者的降压效果比心得安高。
