2014年,英国剑桥大学中国近代史研究者方德万（Hans van de Ven）教授出版了关于中国近代侮关史的著作BreakingwiththePast：the MaritimeCustomsServiceandtheGlobalOriginsofMden^nc/na,相隔短短三年,姚永超、蔡维屏合作翻译的中文本《潮来潮去：海关与中国现代性的全球起源》（以下简称《潮来潮去》）由山西人民出版社出版,实乃海关史和中国近代史研究者的一件幸事.
