中国北方游牧民族相对比较集中,主要在蒙古高原地区活动,该地区是北方游牧民族活跃的历史时期和该民族主要的活动区域,文中所提到的游牧民族主要有匈奴、突厥、鲜卑、契丹、蒙古这五个民族,其影响深远。绘画、雕塑、工艺美术、建筑艺术等是造型艺术比较主要的几个方面。研究内容上讲,研究造型艺术绘画的艺术家以最基础、最本质的造型出发,结合艺术史的理论知识,将理论与造型实践经过一系列的结合,再加入北方游牧民族的特殊文化,使之成为新的造型文化艺术。为表现北方游牧民族的造型艺术,可以从几个方面来展示:原始艺术形式的发生、民族造型的发展、游牧民族与中原汉族文化的交融及变异的规律及过程,以此来展示、宣传北方游牧民族造型的艺术魅力。
