In 2006, after I finished 18 years as a reporter for the Xinhua News Agency’s Polish branch, I was invited by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Poland in my own capacity. As a reporter who has been working in Poland for many years, this trip focuses on the changes in journalism in Poland. In order to be objective and comprehensive, we visited key professionals in both the Polish press and the media. Foreign investment into Poland’s mainstream media Polish journalism is more developed. According to the Polish Statistical Yearbook 2005, the number of newspapers published in Poland was 108 in 1995 and 77 in 2004, while the number of weekly and semi-monthly publications increased from 504 to 3053 in the same period.
