当年红军中的一代名将、红一方面军(中央红军)红五军团军团长董振堂,1937年1月20日在河西走廊壮烈牺牲后,至今已在中国人民解放军华北军区烈士陵园中沉寂了数十载。尽管他在陵园中是军职最高的烈士,尽管他的遗物望远镜、皮包、手枪仍然陈列在中国革命军事博物馆,尽管他生前担任过红五军团副总指挥兼13军军长、军团长、红五军军长(原红五军团与红四方面军33军合编后称红五军)、中华苏维埃共和国中央执行委员、中央军委委员等要职,尽管他一生骁勇善战、屡立战功,但后来不少有关长征的书籍却几乎很少提及这位红军名将。他的战死、他的传奇经历也愈来愈给人以扑朔迷离之感。
