1938年8月,刘顺元以中共皖东工委书记身份到达皖东。此后,历任中共苏皖边省委书记、中共津浦路西省委书记、中共津浦路东省委(后易名津浦路东区委)书记、中共淮南区委副书记兼路东联防司令部政治委员等职。在七年时间内,他深入实际、调查研究的工作作风,堪称楷模。曾任《淮南日报》社社长的石天行赋诗赞称刘顺元:“嚼残江左三冬雪,染出淮南一代红。”
In August 1938, Liu Shunyuan reached Wandong as a secretary of the CPC East Anhui Working Party. Since then, he has served successively as Party secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Anhui Provincial Party Committee, secretary of CPC Provincial Committee of Jinpu Road of CPC, secretary of CPC Committee of East Provincial Party Committee of Jinpu Road (later renamed Jinpu Road East Committee), CPC Central Committee and Deputy Secretary of Huainan Committee of CPC Members and other staff. In seven years, he has a deep and practical work style of investigation and study, which is exemplary. Former “Huainan City Daily” Shi Tianxing Shi Shih-Shih poems praised Liu Shun Yuan: “chewing residual Jiang left three winter snow, dyed Huainan red generation.”
