孙犁在“文革”后期写下的《书衣文录》,记录了作家在这场浩劫中的心理与言行,具有很高的史料价值。本文以《书衣文录》为分析材料,对孙犁的人格及其特征进行了详尽解析,指出作家的人格具有鲜明的独立性和批判性,在人格结构中居于主导地位的认知水平在“文革”的磨难中得到了大幅提升,从而带动了人格层次的整体提升,并对其文学创作转型和新风格的形成产生了重大影响,从这一意义上说,《书衣文录》是孙犁晚年文学创作活动的肇始,是“新孙犁”诞生的重要标志。
