黑龙江农业经济职业学院是2002年经省政府批准、国家教育部备案、培养高等技术应用人才的全日制普通高等院校。学院始建干1958年,原为本科建制的东北农学院牡丹江分院。五十年的办学历程,使学院蓄积了较强的基础设施和办学实力,积累了丰富的办学经验,在教学模式和人才培养模式等方面形成了人才培养基地化、校企一体双元制、工学结合、校企合作等特色和优势,为社会培养了四万余名本专科和中专毕业生,为黑龙江省的经济建设做出了较大的贡献。经省农委批准,学校现已成为新农村人才培养基地、农村新能源培训基地、农村信息化人才培训基地以及牡丹江市乡村干部培训基地、省农村剩余劳动力转移培训基地。
