Objective: To study the development of vestibular tubule after birth and to explore its clinical significance. Methods: The full-term fetus and normal adult vestibular tubules (each 6 temporal bone) were serially sectioned and computer-aided 3D reconstruction was performed. Results: Full-term fetus and normal adult vestibular tubules have significant anatomical differences. Full-term fetus was a straight tube-shaped, adult was inverted “J” shape. Full-term fetal vestibular canal diameter, internal surface area, length, volume was significantly smaller than adults, while the difference between the two internal diameter was not significant. Full-term fetal vestibular tubules were significantly smaller than adults. Vestibular small diameter tube can fully reflect the development of vestibular tubules. CONCLUSION: The fetus is well-developed to reach the shape of a normal adult after its birth. If the vestibular tubule dysplasia is caused by stenosis or obstruction.
