This new guideline removes the barrier for researchers to submit plans for the use of this treatment. The guidelines stipulate that the approval of the various conditions that require gene therapy must also be passed through the local review board and the federal government. The proposed treatment plan must be strictly consistent with specific guidelines. This guideline was unanimously adopted at the fall regular meeting of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Recombinant DNA Advisory Board.
