At the beginning of the “capitalist” victory in Taiwan’s war of resistance against Japan, the Kuomintang government’s treasury left less than 300,000 taels of gold and then confiscated 495,000 taels of Wang’s pseudo-regime treasury. It issued bonus notes and 1,840,000 taels from the people. In addition, during the war of resistance against Japan, the United States owed the construction cost of the Chinese military airport 400 million U.S. dollars and the National Government bought more than 6 million pieces of gold from 220 million U.S. dollars. After deducting the expenses, by the end of 1948, the total amount of gold in the treasury remained more than 4 million taels.
