【Background】 “Kinetic energy and potential energy” is selected from the PEP (June, 2002), “Physics (Year 9)”, Chapter 14, Section I. Teaching Objectives Understand kinetic energy and potential energy by enumerating examples of kinetic energy and potential energy. Know the factors that affect kinetic energy and potential energy and their interrelationships. Through the inquiry activity, understand the influence factor of kinetic energy and potential energy. Through practice, we know the application of the law of controlled variables in scientific research methods. Through the exchange and cooperation, experience the whole process of scientific inquiry. Learn how to design a reasonable experimental proof of scientific assumptions, so as to foster rigorous scientific attitude and realistic scientific spirit. Learn to use the learned knowledge to explain the physical phenomena in life, sentiment “from life to physics, from physics to society.” In addition to letting students know their kinetic energy and potential energy, the content of this course should be tested once the students’ ability of inquiry has been explored. Students need
