统计学是一门关于数据资料的收集、整理、分析和推断的科学,随着生产和科学技术的飞速发展,特别是电子计算机的出现和不断改进,统计学在许多科学研究部门和生产、经济部门得到越来越广泛的应用。统计学的内容十分丰富,概括地说可以分为两类:一是试验设计问题,主要讨论如何更合理、更有效地获得观察资料;二是统计推断问题,主要研究如何利用一定的统计资料对所关心的问题作出尽可能精确、可靠的估计。这里结合中学数学教材,介绍统计推断的一些初步知识。
