兰州铁路局1987年有工人83771人。按年龄结构分析，25岁以下占工人总数39％，其中学徒和熟练期未满尚未定职的人数占29％，其余均为二级以下的初级技术工人。26至40岁占职工总数39％。这部分人多系二级以上五级以下。41至50岁的占工人总数的15.7％。这些人虽是技术骨干，但家庭和精神负担较重，少数已体力不佳。51岁以上占工人总数6.3％，这些人已处于精力衰退阶段，工作力不从心，只能从事一些轻微的劳动。
Lanzhou Railway Bureau in 1987 there were 83,771 workers. Analyzed by age structure, those under 25 accounted for 39% of the total number of workers.
