The County of Drongpa lies in the farthest west of Shigatse,north of the Himalayas.It is west to Ngari,south to Nepal,east to Tsochen of Ngari and Saga of Shigatse.With an average altitude of 5,000 meters,Drongpa accounts for nearly one quarter of Shigatse’s total area.In Drongpa,there are the Gyalma Yamgzom glaciers,from which the Yarlung Zangbo River originates. Drongpa was under the dominion of Kapon in Ngari before Tibet was peacefully liberated.In 1962,it was put under the administration of Shigatse Prefecture.The office was stationed at Kangjor,and then moved to Tradun in 1964 because of wind and sand storms.Kangjor is short of water,even for people and livestock.In 1986,it moved again from Tradun to Labrang of Nakurtang.The most recent move was
