Dear Editor,rnApproximately 500 million individuals suffer from hearing loss worldwide. The number of hearing-impaired individ-uals is estimated to increase to 900 million by 2050.The etiology of hearing loss is complex.Noise-induced hearing loss(NIHL)is one of the most common causes of adult-onset hearing loss.It damages the sensory hair cells and neurons in the cochlea and reduces the neural input to the central nervous system, depriving both auditory and non-auditory regions of important sensory information.
