在对幼儿的教育中,日本很重视幼儿园与家庭的紧密配合。在1964年公布并实行的《幼儿园教育要领》中就明确地规定幼儿园(教育)应“与幼儿家庭取得紧密联系,配合家庭教育,提高教育效果”。在取得家庭的支持与配合方面,日本的幼儿园是做得出色的。日本幼儿园与家庭联系的主要方式有电话、信件、连络笔记、印刷品等等,使用最多的是电话和印刷品。电话主要用于幼儿在园出意外事故或者处理特殊情况时与家长联系;印刷品是为了配合幼儿园教育而专门印制让幼儿带给家长的。印刷品的内容有这样几方面:
