If the reform process does not proceed through very slow and cautious steps, the debt-based global economy and its huge fiscal imbalances, unfunded welfare and social inequalities will be unavoidable. At the moment, we are living in an era of rapid change. Continual change is the only thing we can be sure of. From an energy structure perspective, we must recognize the fact that fossil fuels still have an absolute advantage in global energy consumption. As the nuclear boom ended more than 20 years ago, fossil fuels still tenaciously account for about 85% market share.
