Walnut is one of the most distinctive traditional forest tree species in Xinjiang. It has a long history of cultivation. Its walnut shells are thin and fragrant with good quality and are famous both at home and abroad. Since the 21st century, with the implementation of Xinjiang’s strategy of “adjusting the structure of agricultural industry and developing distinctive fruit industry”, Xinjiang specialty fruit industry has ushered in unprecedented opportunities for development and made Xinjiang’s walnut planting industry leapfrog to leapfrog development.
