80年代以来,以黄斑星天牛和光肩星天牛为主的蛀干害虫群在我省迅速蔓延,猖獗危害。发生面积94万亩,关中5地市50个县(区)640多个乡镇遭到危害,平均被害株率51％。大批成材树木千疮百孔,失去利用价值,年损失木材生长量12.6万立方米,经济损失达5000余万元。就连原来没有杨树天牛危害的榆林地区也陆续发现天牛虫源点,杨树天牛危害在我省构成南北夹攻之势。
