In April, the international crude oil price fluctuated widely. During the period, the higher crude oil inventories in the United States, the IEA’s suggestion that the growth rate of global oil demand in 2005 may be slower than expected, and the OPEC’s commitment to increase oil production again could push oil prices down significantly from their historic highs. Subsequently, a series of refinery failures in the United States and fears of a supply shortage triggered by the terrorist attacks in the Middle East led to a decline in oil prices. April WTI, Brent crude oil and Asian spot price of Dubai crude oil averaged 52.89, 51.82 and 47.20 US dollars / barrel respectively. Except for Dubai crude oil increased by 1.36 US dollars / barrel from March, the WTI and Brent crude prices dropped respectively from March 1.44,1.08 US dollars / barrel.
