南四湖是南水北调东线第一期工程的主要调蓄湖泊之一。根据水量调节计算,其调蓄能力对全线的水量调度影响相当敏感。抬高上、下级湖蓄水位,可以增加调节库容,除能调节南四湖流域来水与充分利用当地径流减少弃水外,更重要的是能增加东线工程向北的供水量,提高北调供水的保证率。因此,规划将上级湖现状非汛期蓄水位由34.2米抬高至34.5米,可增加调节库容1.8亿立方米,将下级湖非汛期蓄水位自32.5米抬高至33.0米,可增加调节库容3.0亿立方米。
