荷兰莱顿大学汉学家高延以其对中国宗教的开拓性研究著称于世,其对中国社会所做的最早的人类学研究因其早期以荷兰文出版,鲜为国内人类学者所知。本文以其著作《婆罗洲华人公司制度》为例,讨论其对中国南方传统社会及其海外组织与制度研究的开创性,同时反思其著作中所反映出的理论建构的局限性。
Gao Yan, a Sinologist at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, is known for pioneering studies of the Chinese religion. His earliest anthropological studies on Chinese society were rarely published in the Dutch language and were rarely known to domestic anthropologists. Taking the book Borneo Chinese Company System as an example, this article discusses its groundbreaking research on the traditional Chinese society and its overseas organizations and institutions in South China, and at the same time reviews the limitations of the theoretical construction reflected in the book.
