创建时期的中国现代话剧,很多方面白手起家,剧本、理论、演技无不如此。戏剧家们对于演技的自觉探索,为话剧民族现代表演体系的构建,积累了最初的,也是弥足珍贵的经验。洪深用他的实践将西方现代写实主义表演观念与技巧介绍到了中国,为中国话剧表演走上现实主义道路奠定了基础。南国社注重情感的真挚与人物形象的鲜明,追求空灵的诗意境界的表演观念和风格,是对中国传统戏剧“传神”美学思想的现代张扬。从袁牧之身上,我们看到了现代中国话剧演员对表演的科学性、艺术性和规范性的自觉追求。
