对艺术精神的深入探讨,徐复观是第一人。徐复观探讨中国艺术精神,不仅从艺术本身考察,而且从这种艺术所赖以生存的文化背景来观照,这是徐复观美学的一大特色。章启群等先生从西方哲学的视角来解读《庄子》和《中国艺术精神》,他们认为:“道”不是中国艺术精神的最高境界,《庄子》中“得道者”不具有艺术的精神或境界,并由此对徐复观的《中国艺术精神》提出批判。这种完全以西方的二元认识论的视角来解读《庄子》的“道”和中国艺术精神的方式,不仅偏离了《庄子》的原意,而且也对《中国艺术精神》造成了一些误解,本文试图对此做出澄清。
