空气成分对锈菌的影响目前还知道得很少。据Linzon,S.N.1958年田间观察表明:二氧化硫降低了几个锈菌种类的传布。同样Sharp于1967年发现,在美国东部地区的Puccinia striiformis当空气中阴离子浓度增加时,处于这样空气中的夏孢子萌发力降低。臭氧(O_3)对很多种在美国分布较广的植物是有害的。浓度大的臭氧,除对绿色植物有害外,也可能对植物重要的寄生锈菌为害的严重程度和传布能力有影响。最近一个报导中指出:低浓度的臭氧对锈菌也有影响。Neagle发现,由于臭氧使冠锈菌 The impact of air composition on rust bacteria is still very little known.
