英国导演肯·罗奇被视作现实主义电影阵营中坚定的守望者,当欧美电影才俊或是倒向以娱乐为目的的商业片,或是凭借强烈的个人色彩在小众文艺片中崭露头角时,罗奇却始终以一种低调的姿态坚持着自己关注现实,关注社会底层,将自己隐藏在电影背后的艺术风格。对罗奇电影进行解析时,现实主义是理想的切入点。文章从题材选择上的生活真实,情节、人物塑造上的艺术真实,创作目的的批判性三方面,分析肯·罗奇影片中的现实主义。
Ken Roach, the British director, is seen as a staunch watchman in the realist cinema camp. When European and American cinema stars turn to commercial films for entertainment purposes or emerge in niche art films with strong personalities , Roach has always insisted in a low-key attitude that he focuses on the reality, pays attention to the bottom of society and hides himself in the artistic style behind the movie. Realism is the ideal starting point for analyzing Roach’s films. The article analyzes the realism in Ken Roach’s film from three aspects: the truth of life, the plots, the true art of characterization and the critical purpose of creation.
