艺术创作是艺术家对世界认识和看法的一种视觉阐述。任何现当代艺术都是对传统艺术的传承或批判而言的,传统是相对于之后的艺术来说的;艺术家作为艺术创作的主体,其自我意识是创造力的源头,也是艺术价值之所在,是推动艺术发展的最大动力,也是艺术继续存在的理由。大卫是《圣经》当中旧约所记载的以色列王,经常被作为艺术家们的创作题材。通过《大卫》像这同一主题来看艺术家是如何在对传统传承与批判之间如何发展的。
