The patent provides an infrared electronic thermometer that projects (14) radiation from a measured object onto a sensor (18) through a shutter device (16) and then generates an electrical signal from the sensor. An ambient temperature sensor (20) generates another electrical signal corresponding to the temperature of the cavity (13). The circuit (11) processes the electric signal from the sensor and the ambient temperature electric signal of the thermometer housing to calculate the temperature of the object. The calculated temperature is displayed on the indicator (78).
