本文比较分析了英汉博士学位论文中致谢词的体裁结构及其反映出的西方和中国有关“致谢”文化的不同特征。研究发现,双方在宏观和微观体裁结构方面均有一定差异。在汉语致谢词中,对导师的感谢一般较长,不但包含学术方面的帮助指导,还包括对导师品行人格的赞扬和感谢。但是,在英语致谢词中,对导师的感谢较汉语要短,且仅限于学术方面。此外,英汉语篇在是否给出感谢对象的姓名和感谢的原因方面差异较大。这些差异反映出中西方在感谢文化方面的不同。毫无疑问,认识中英致谢词在体裁结构和文化方面的差异对学术英语教和学均有积极的指导作用。
This article analyzes the genre structure of the words of gratitude in English-Chinese Ph.D. dissertations and its different characteristics reflecting the “Acknowledgments ” culture in the West and China. The study found that there are some differences between the two sides in the structure of the macro and micro genres. In the Chinese thanksgiving words, the gratitude to the tutors is generally longer, which not only includes academic guidance and guidance, but also compliments and gratitude to the tutor personality. However, in the English words of thanks, the gratitude to the mentor is shorter than that of the Chinese language, and it is limited to the academic field. In addition, English and Chinese texts differ greatly in whether or not the names of the objects of gratitude are given and the reasons for their gratitude. These differences reflect the cultural differences between China and the West in gratitude. There is no doubt that understanding the difference between the structure of the genre and the cultural differences between the Chinese and British words of thanks has a positive guiding effect on academic English teaching and learning.
