From 2000 to 2012, the economies of Romania and China showed their complementary features and provided plenty of opportunities for the two countries to strengthen their bilateral trade. However, the two countries did not make full use of these trade opportunities. However, in the recent 10 years, Romania-China trade maintained its momentum of rapid growth. In 2011, the bilateral trade volume reached the highest level in history. However, the overall level of bilateral trade remains low, with the imbalance between exports and imports. Trade between the two countries is often conducted through third parties. There are very few companies engaged in direct trade between Romania and China. In the long run, Romania’s trade potential is huge. Because China’s leadership decision-makers put forward the future to further develop and encourage economic cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
