英国小说家哈代展示了一位维多利亚时期少女苔丝的真情实感和多舛的命运。苔丝是一位形貌出众、心灵手巧、勤劳、淳朴、善良而坚强的乡村姑娘,可就是这样一个具有大地般朴实本性的女儿却没能逃脱厄运的摧残,最终被推上了断头台。可到底为什么她就该有如此的下场?这其中有很多因素造成了她的悲剧。本篇论文从贞操观这一角度去切入并深入剖析苔丝的悲剧命运,其中分别从世俗对女性“失贞”的偏见、苔丝本人对贞操的看法以及以安琪儿为代表的男权社会对女性贞操的苛求这三个层次切入,让读者从贞操观这一层面对苔丝的悲剧命运有一个更深刻的理解。
Hardy, a British novelist, shows the truthfulness and misery of a Victorian girl, Tess. Tess is an outstanding, dexterous, industrious, honest, good and strong country girl, but is such a earthy and simple daughters failed to escape the bad luck, eventually pushed onto the guillotine. Why in the end she should have such a fate? There are many factors that caused her tragedy. This paper attempts to analyze and analyze Tess’s tragedy fate from the view of chastity, from the prejudices of secularity on women, the Tess of Chastity, and the patriarchal rights represented by Angel From the three levels of social demanding of virginity, the reader has a deeper understanding of Tess’s tragedy from the aspect of virginity.
