The video attention and continuous recording of the underprivileged and marginalized in China has become an important photographic practice of many Chinese photographers who uphold humanitarianism since the early 1990s. Those who live outside the mainstream social and cultural perspectives, their little-known life reality, appear one by one in the photographer’s image text. The value of these images lies in the following: First, the anti-idiographic images serve as a rigid gesture of propaganda service and reach the current situation of the present-day underclass in China. Through the cold writing of the images, we reveal a variety of social problems in China during the transitional period
