2005年,美国发布一份中国婚外情状况研究报告。据数据显示:在被调查的1240名已婚男性和1275名已婚女性中,分别有20%和3.9%的人表示:在过去12个月中有过婚外情现象。2010年,凤凰网在第16届“国际家庭日”到来之际,做了一项“中国已婚男女婚外情”调查。在被调查的近18万网民中,有95.6%表示自己或者身边有已婚男女发生过婚外情情况。2011年,有人对220对夫妇的离婚原因进行调查。调查结果显示,除“性格不合导致离婚”占40%之外,第二大婚姻杀手——婚外情占了近20%。
