1968年10月8日,陕西汽车齿轮总厂在陕西省宝鸡市蔡家坡渭河南岸的一条小山沟内动工兴建,1975年底竣工投产,规划年产重型变速器1500台,为军车配套;1984年,陕齿总厂引进美国双中间轴重型变速器制造技术,开始在西安西郊建设新厂,并于1990年9月18日正式投产,规划年产8000台;1995年,李大开受命担任陕齿总厂厂长。新领导班子带领全厂职工内抓改革、管理与技术创新,外拓国内国际两个市场,使市场实现质的飞跃;2001年9月28日,陕齿总厂与湘火炬合资组建陕西法士特齿轮有限责任公司,企业步入超常规高速发展之路,各项经营指标开始以年均翻番的速度强劲增长;
