西方的中国观往往在“乌托邦化”和“意识形态化”两个极端之间摇摆。近十多年来西方媒体中国观的意识形态化愈演愈烈,到了北京奥运会时期爆发了空前的虚假报道丑闻。作为了解中国的知识分子,奥多·考波反思西方媒体的中国观,并从现代的、经验的知识立场通过详实的数据材料批驳西方媒体报道中国时的偏见和谬误,集结成《西方眼中的中国:走不出陈词滥调?》。作为近几年来具有再启蒙性质的严肃作品,它的学术话语模式值得我们研究和借鉴,有助于我们在一个对等的平台上和西方知识界展开对话。
The Western outlook on China often waver between the two extremes of “utopianism” and “ideology.” The ideology of the Western concept of China has intensified in the past decade or so and an unprecedented false reporting scandal broke out during the Beijing Olympic Games.
